Through GenerationNation, students build civic literacy, becoming civic leaders who:
Know first-hand how their governments and communities work;
Understand and play an active role in school and community decision making;
Use good sources of news and civic information; and,
Build knowledge, experience, social capital, opportunity, and readiness for leadership and success now and into college, career, and civic life.
GenerationNation reaches thousands of students annually, impacting youth through educational programming, dialogues with community leaders and peers, and much more. Innovative, impactful programs include the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Youth Council and Youth Lead Charlotte-Mecklenburg, NC Civics Coalition, standards-based K-12 curriculum, teacher professional development, the annual mock election ("Kids Voting"), and other initiatives that build civic literacy and leadership from an early age.
